Presented as part of Liquid Architecture 2013, Stairwell was a site-specific durational performance expressing resonance and harmonic rattles across the height of a metal fire escape staircase at RMIT University.

This performance employed tuned vibrations from an array of tactile shakers, deployed across the levels of the stairwell.

Through synthesis, Stairwell tuned vibrations to reveal the dormant acoustic characteristics of the structure, creating a multi channel composition spread spatially and physically. This provided an immersive tactile and spatial experience, as the sensation of vibration through the feet and hands combined with three-dimensional auditory experience.
