Stairwell resonance installation

On Thursday 05 and Friday 06 September, Garth Sheridan and I will be installing a resonance project at RMIT University, Melbourne.

Stairwell is a site-specific durational performance expressing resonance and harmonic rattles across the height of a metal fire escape staircase at RMIT University. This performance employs tuned vibrations from an array of tactile shakers, deployed across the levels of the stairwell.

Recent Avoca project improvised session

A few weeks back I took the trip up to Avoca, to work with the old sunroom in the 1850′s gold-rush era house, and sounds and materials from the broader site.

Was an interesting process in working with a broader range of sounding materials – metal buckets, slate, roofing and glass. Also employed the new mini-transducers to good effect.

silo video uploaded

During the silo install we took time lapse shots of the installation process…. now viewable at vimeo/surfaceresonance

News points to the site being condemned so think of it as a final archive of the space, now under lock down until the apartments come in…

masters website update

Completed my Masters of Arts (sound) by research in 2010 – and recently updated the website archive of the research process. A useful go-to on the exploration of the tactile sense, supported by sound, images and videos. Check it out at: http://masters.surfaceresonance.net/
